DJ and producer Zedd has teamed up with rising pop singer-songwriter Jasmine Thompson for a brand new track called ‘Funny’.
Marking Zedd’s first release of 2020, and the latest in a string of stunning releases from Jasmine, ‘Funny’ is a relatable electro-pop anthem about an ex who wants to try again, despite them being the cause of the relationship ending in the first place.

The track shines a light on Jasmine’s ethereal and stirring vocals, and when paired with captivating lyrics, Zedd’s trademark feel-good production style and a banger of a chorus, there’s no doubt that ‘Funny’ has all the makings of a huge hit. Not only could this be in contention for song of the summer, but it definitely feels like a song which we’ll still be singing along to in years to come.
“After a relationship people always seem to come back and want to try again and pay you more attention and say they miss you. I had been through a relationship that wasn’t working and as soon as we ended it, they wanted to spend more time with me,” says Jasmine of ‘Funny’. “That’s what this song is about, and collaborating with Zedd was an amazing experience – his approach was unique, gave the song an incredible energy, and really brought it to life.”
Speaking about working with Jasmine, Zedd said: “When I first heard Jasmine’s voice on this song, I was blown away by it and knew I wanted to work with her on ‘Funny’. There’s so much emotion and energy in this song and Jasmine’s voice captures it perfectly.”
The track comes accompanied by a fantastic music video which not only captures the essence of the song, but plays on Jasmine and Zedd’s personalities. Directed by Jack Karaszweski, the visual begins with an acoustic performance of the chorus from Jasmine, before she’s interrupted by a message from an ex. This leads to her getting a message from Zedd before the pair virtually meet to work on the song (and to fawn over a bunch of adorable dogs). There’s even a cameo from Lewis Capaldi!

‘Funny’ is Zedd’s latest single, following on from global hits including ‘365’ with Katy Perry, ‘Happy Now’ with Elley Duhe, and ‘The Middle’ with Maren Morris and Grey. The track also comes after Jasmine’s most recent release, ‘Love For The Lonely’.
