Steve “Mongo” McMichael has been hospitalized.
ESPN reported on Friday that former WCW star and Chicago Bears defensive tackle Steve McMichael has been hospitalized in the intensive care unit with sepsis and pneumonia. The 65-year-old was diagnosed with ALS in 2021.
McMichael’s wife Misty wrote on social media that Steve was hospitalized Thursday night while unconscious. Fortunately, after receiving two IV antibiotics, McMichael is awake with better vitals.
During his days as a wrestler in the ’90s, McMichael won the WCW United States Championship. Additionally, McMichael had a memorable run as a commentator for WCW Nitro. He also made appearances in WWE and TNA. He also had a successful NFL career, as he won a Super Bowl with the Chicago Bears in 1995.
