“Felicity has always been about family, but her stint in prison has shifted her priorities,” reveals an insider. “Instead of focusing on making sure her girls [get] the best chance at a good future, she’s now focused on her family’s blessings and how to live a more authentic and honest life.”

The source went on to say that Huffman is owning her mistakes, and she knows she did something wrong and got caught. The actress was also humiliated and paid the price for her mistakes, but she has finally admitted that she did this all on her own and she “gets it now.”

The insider added that “prison was a huge wake-up call” for the Desperate Housewives star, and Huffman is not the same woman. The source claims that this scandal has ripped Huffman’s life apart, but it made her take a look at who she really is as a person.

Huffman has always “strived to be a good parent, neighbor, and an upstanding citizen,” says the source. But, she made some huge mistakes, and it has humbled the actress. “It was a huge reality check,” says the insider.

Huffman and her husband – Shameless star William H. Macy – have a “very close-knit family,” and the insider claims that the first thing Huffman wanted to do when she got home was strengthen her bonds with her loved ones. She wants to rebuild the trust of her two daughters, Georgia and Sophia. And, she has a lot of work in front of her when it comes to repairing her relationship with Sophia.

Huffman paid $15,000 for an SAT proctor to alter Sophia’s test results, and that’s the decision that put Huffman in prison. The insider says that Huffman’s daughters understand she was just trying to help, but this has caused them a lot of pain.

The source says that Sophia wants to get on with her life, and even though she loves her mom she does want to distance herself from this scandal. The mom and daughter have a lot to work on, but Huffman is “confident they’ll all heal in time.”
